Why are K-12 school roofs not talked about as great solar candidates?

At first glance, suburban US school rooftops seem ideal: they're just 1-2 stories with flat roofs (easy access), are huge (economies of scale plus little shade), burn a lot of power, and are wasted space otherwise.

Is there a technical problem I'm missing, or could a motivated school district benefit by installing solar on their roofs?
